Queen Anne's Revenge was the flagship of the infamous pirate Blackbeard. Originally a French slave ship, it was captured by Blackbeard in 1717 and became his most powerful vessel. The ship ran aground near Beaufort, North Carolina, in 1718. The wreck was discovered in 1996, and ongoing excavations have revealed numerous artifacts and provided insights into Blackbeard's life as a pirate.
